Residents of Town of Quantico,
Starting Friday, November 17, 7PM the railroad crossing on Potomac Avenue will be closed to facilitate the Virginia Railway Express (VRE) construction. It will be reopened on Monday, November 23 at 5AM EST.
A detour to Martin Street and Broadway Street is planned for traffic mitigation. Large trucks will be directed to Henderson Road to avoid the underpass on Martin Street. Marine Corps Installation National Capital Region-Marine Corps Base Quantico (MCINCR-MCBQ) is coordinating the detours to minimize base impact.
Attached, the map detailing the planned detour routes for regular vehicles and large trucks, along with a construction timeline. Alternate construction/closure dates are Dec 1-Dec 3, 2023. Detour signage will be set up at 8AM on November 17, with construction commencing at 8PM on November 17, 2023.
Be advised that anyone deviating from the detour, or discovered in an unauthorized area, will be cited.
